About This Course
Patents as strategic business assets
Patent assertion, defensive measures, portfolio construction, and other strategic issues sit at the centre of this course. It moves beyond how patents are obtained to how they are used — as assets to be valued and monetized, and as instruments of leverage, litigation, and negotiation.
You'll work through the business models that have grown up around patents, including patent aggregators, non-practicing entities (NPEs), and defensive patent pools, alongside the transactions that move patents between parties: sales, licensing, cross-licensing, and the FRAND commitments that govern standards-essential patents.
A certificate of completion is awarded when you successfully complete the course.
